The Mets can’t really do anything right these days. Even the simplest of all baseball acts, getting a new ball to the pitcher, has become a tortuously difficult process for them. Check out what happened to pitcher Jon Niese Friday afternoon. He’s just standing on the mound waiting for a new baseball when suddenly a ball comes flying at him from an unexpected direction and hits him right in the ribs.
Now you tell me how that even happens. How does a pitcher not even know where a new baseball is coming from? It’s not that complicated. The pitcher needs a ball. Someone’s job is to toss him a ball. This has been going on for decades. Thousands of times a day this simple process is repeated without incident.
But the Mets try this most uneventful of all baseball actions and it becomes bad comedy. The Mets at this point basically are more of a comedy troupe than a baseball team. They should shut down the baseball operation and just perform farcical routines around the country. They really are not good at baseball.
