NBA Rumors: Kevin Seraphin wants more playing time

There have been high hopes for Washington Wizards’ big man Kevin Seraphin.

Back in the 2010 NBA Draft, Seraphin was the 17th-overall pick. However, he has had an up-and-down career with the Wizards and saw his minutes fall in the 2013-2014 season playing behind Marcin Gortat, Nene and Trevor Booker.

Seraphin will now become a restricted free agent and the Wizards have a big decision to make. With Gortat, the team’s starting center and starting small forward, Trevor Ariza, set to hit restricted free agency, Seraphin may have to go elsewhere is he wants to cash in.

Seraphin told Brandon Parker of The Washington Post that he wants to remain with the Wizards, but wants more playing time.

The move served to again delay Seraphin’s presumed evolution into the player that made him a first-round draft pick in 2010 and resulted in an up-and-down fourth season that left his future with the Wizards uncertain entering his summer as a restricted free agent.

“I love this game so if I don’t play I’m frustrated,” Seraphin said. “It’s just something you have to deal with it. You just have to stay positive and bring good energy and good vibes all the time, so that’s what I tried.”

When asked if he hopes to return to the Wizards following this past season’s playoff run, Seraphin said, “For sure. But I want to play, too, so we’ll see.”

Seraphin averaged 4.7 points and 2.4 rebounds in 10.9 minutes per game. He shot 50.5% from the field and 87.1% from the free throw line.
