Denver Broncos’ wide receiver Wes Welker had another excellent season on the football field.
After moving from one Super Bowl Contender with all time great quarterback (New England Patriots, Tom Brady) to another (Denver Broncos, Peyton Manning), Welker was still extremely productive. Despite missing three games, Welker made 73 receptions for 778 yards and scored 10 touchdowns in the regular season and added another 18 receptions for 160 yards and a touchdown in the postseason. That brings his career total to 841 catches for 9,358 yards 48 touchdowns.
Welker may be having just as much success off of the field.
Welker has been spotted frequenting horse races as of late. He famously attended the Kentucky Derby with Brady a few years back and perhaps even more famously, won big at the Derby this year. Although Welker was reportedly overpaid for his winnings at the Derby, he was seen passing out $100 bills after his winnings last month, obviously pleasing those around him.
Now, Welker is winning big without having to bet. Welker’s horse, Undrafted, won the Jaipur Invitational, the fourth race at Belmont Park where California Chrome will attempt to win the Triple Crown. The victory netted Welker $165,000.
