E3 2014: Ubisoft preview

The glorious time we all have been waiting for is almost here, E3 2014 is nearly upon us. This is where we get to see the titles that will consume our lives for the rest of this year and into the future.

Since E3 will begin soon, let’s preview a company that’s expected to make their presence felt. Ubisoft is a company that always has a phenomenal showing at this event, and they have another stacked lineup of games that will impress people.

Far Cry 4

This is a follow-up to the very successful shooter, which was Far Cry 3 that launched in 2012. The setting for Far Cry 4 is brand new, as players will be thrust into a mountainous region instead of the jungle. If the last game in the series was any indication, we could have another great experience.

Assassin’s Creed Unity

As expected with Ubisoft, it wouldn’t be E3 without a game featuring assassinations. The next title in the storied franchise is Assassin’s Creed Unity. This game will take place during the French Revolution, and this is right in Ubisoft’s backyard.

I do expect the game will have a more personal feel because of this. They will probably add some new gameplay features as well.

The Division

Ubisoft unveiled The Division last year at their E3 press conference, and it definitely looked impressive. The backdrop for the game is in New York with a devastating crisis that has the city in turmoil. This open-world action-RPG has the look of a Tom Clancy game that will combine fast-paced action, thinking strategically and fervent exploration.

The Division has the feel of a true next-gen game, and I’m very excited to see what Ubisoft has in store for it.

The Crew

This title represents a change from past releases by Ubisoft with it being a racing game. The Crew will have players drive around in different vehicles on various terrains within the United States. The game will also have an online component, where challenges can be completed with friends.

This game seems like it could be a great way to have fun with friends.

Another thing that I expect from Ubisoft is they will have a surprise or two for the people in attendance. This might be a new IP, or bringing back an old series. One thing that comes to mind is a new Prince of Persia title.

Ubisoft at their media briefing will show some great games that will come out later this year, and some that will release in the future. There’s also the possibility of a shocking announcement.
