On Sunday night, the 68th annual Tony Awards were held at Radio City Music Hall in New York and one of the first awards to be handed out was in the category of Best Featured Actress in a Musical.
When the award was announced, it was Lena Hall who won the award for her role in “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.”
Hall beat out a stacked category that included Linda Emond in “Cabaret”, Anika Larsen in “Beautiful – The Carole King Musical,” Adriane Lenox in “After Midnight” and Lauren Worsham in “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder.”
After winning the award, Lena Hall gave a very emotional acceptance speech where her emotion and excitement shined through.

For those unfamiliar with “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” it is a rock musical about a fictional rock and roll band fronted by an East German transgender singer. The text is by John Cameron Mitchell, and the music and lyrics are by Stephen Trask. The musical premiered in 1998 and has been performed throughout the world in hundreds of stage productions.
The show also stars the one and only Neil Patrick Harris.
