Part of the wackiness of UFC Fight Night 42 in Albuquerque last weekend included lightweight Jason High, who shoved referee Kevin Mulhall after his fight against Rafael dos Anjos was ended with a TKO stoppage.
High’s temporary lapse in judgement will likely land him a suspension from the New Mexico athletic commission, but it has also cost him his job.
UFC president Dana White has revealed that High has been cut from the UFC for touching shoving the ref.
“He’s cut,” White told UFC.com.
“I’m going to cut him. I look at that the way (Paul) Daley put his hands on his opponent after a fight was over. You don’t ever, ever f—ing touch a referee, ever. You’re done here. He’s been apologizing on Twitter, but he’s done.”
In every sport, one of the biggest rules is that you do not put your hands on an official, so it should not come as a surprise that High has been so severely punished by the promotion.
Whether or not he will ever get another shot to fight inside of the Octagon remains to be seen, but for now it does not appear like anything that will be happening any time in the near future.
