The Philadelphia 76ers currently own the No. 3 pick in the upcoming 2014 NBA Draft, but they know they’re likely out of the sweepstakes for both Joel Embiid and Andrew Wiggins as they’re expected to be off the board once the Sixers selection rolls around.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

Certainly, both Jabari Parker and Dante Exum are nice consolation prizes but it doesn’t appear as if Philadelphia is overly enamored with either as they’ve engaged in trade talks with the Cleveland Cavaliers for the No.1 overall pick, this according to Chad Ford via HoopsRumors.

The Sixers inquired with the Cavs about the No. 1 overall pick, as Chad Ford of ESPN.com reveals in his latest Insider-only mock draft. Sam Amico of Fox Sports Ohio wrote last week that a team with a top-three pick had done so, so it was either Philadelphia or Milwaukee.

So what’s the likelihood of a deal getting done? Well, at least currently, it doesn’t sound good.

Ford didn’t go on to suggest what Cleveland was demanding for their pick, though did suggest that the Sixers would not trade their No. 3 pick along with their No. 10 pick to move up, so they appear only willing to include a player with such a pick.

A suggestion from Ford hinted Philadelphia could attempt to sway the Cavaliers with the No. 3 pick and the inclusion of talented forward Thaddeus Young, though there’s nothing at this point to suggest the Cavaliers have interest in such a package.

Ford hints Philadelphia will likely go with either Embiid or Jabari Parker if no deal is completed.
