The Las Vegas Summer League is a place where true hardcore NBA fans get thier first taste of the upcoming season but this season will see more than a few casual NBA fans tune in to get their first look at a first-time head coach. Steve Kerr was hired as the Golden State Warriors head coach and he is set to make his debut in that position at the Dubs’ Summer League games.

More from Golden State Warriors

This won’t be an accurate picture of what Kerr can do as coach, as the Summer League is really more about players trying to make the team or show off what they have in order to audition for other teams who may want to give them a shot. Still, like the mild excitement of players debuting in the NFL during preseason, Kerr’s first trip to the bench as head coach is notable.

According to CSNBayArea.com’s Monte Poole, the Warriors will see Kerr debut as their head coach this summer in Las Vegas.

"As Steve Kerr continues to interview candidates in hopes of assembling a staff in the coming weeks, the new Warriors coach has made one significant decision. He will coach the Warriors Summer League team in Las Vegas next month.“Yes, I will coach summer league,” Kerr told me via text message on Tuesday."

There will be plenty of opportunities to witness the ‘first time’ Kerr becomes coach of the Dubs as there is still his first preseason game with the Warriors and then of course the first regular season game. But his commitment to the Summer League shows off his commitment to the Warriors and that’s a great start to his tenure.
