The Cleveland Cavaliers are scheduled to meet with Joel Embiid today, a player who many view as the likely top overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

It’s expected that Embiid will go through a physical and workout with the Cavaliers organization, but if they don’t like what they see, it’s possible a move could be in order.

We’ve already heard rumors suggesting that the Philadelphia 76ers engaged in trade talks with the Cavaliers for the No. 1 overall pick in June’s upcoming draft, but they apparently aren’t the only team to do so as Sam Amico of Fox Sports Ohio reports that the Cavaliers have taken many calls regarding the selection.

“There is no shortage of interest (far from it) in #Cavs’ No. 1 draft pick,” says Amico. “Calls aplenty.”

Of course, this isn’t exactly shocking news considering the Cavaliers have been rumored to have at least some willingness to trade the pick and there’s little reason for teams not to engage in talks for a deal, nor is there anything wrong with the Cavaliers for listening.

All that said, it doesn’t mean a deal will get done as it’s likely most teams are just doing their due diligence though there appear to be a handful of teams, like the aforementioned 76ers who do have serious interest in obtaining the top overall pick.

The talks could be rather moot after today however if the Cavaliers come away impressed with Embiid, who reportedly is completely healthy after suffering a stress fracture at Kansas that ended his season prematurely.
