New Image of Robert Downey Jr. from The Judge

Before we watch him save the world once again as the Marvel superhero Iron Man in Avengers: Age of Ultron, we will witness Robert Downey Jr. as a different kind of superhero; a successful defense attorney.

In the new film The Judge, we watch as Downey plays a successful Chicago defense attorney named Hank Palmer. Thanks to his overbearing father Judge Joseph Palmer, Hank left the family home at a very young age.

Unfortunately, a death in the family has brought him home, and into the middle of a huge family mess that is going to keep him home for quite some time. You see, his father Judge Palmer has been accused of a vehicular manslaughter case that may or may not have been intentional on the side of his father.

The good news is, we won’t have to wait until October to get a look at Downey in his latest film. Thanks to the people at Entertainment Weekly, as you can see above, we have an image of him as Hank Palmer alongside his father in the courtroom.

The film is being directed by David Dobkin. Up until now, Dobkin has been known mostly for his comedy as he has directed films like Fred Claus, Wedding Crashers, Shanghai Knights, and more. The script for the film was penned by rookie screenwriter Bill Dubuque.

If there is anything this film is jam-packed with it is very talented actors. In addition to Robert Downey Jr., The Judge stars Fargo’s Billy Bob Thornton, and Bates Motel’s Vera Farmiga. The film also stars Robert Duvall, Vincent D’Onofrio, Dax Shepard, Melissa Leo, Balthazar Getty, and many more.

What are your thoughts on Downey in his new role? Are you excited to see him expand outside of the Marvel Universe, even if it is only for a little while? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

The Judge is scheduled to be released on October 10, 2014.
