The Team Alpha Male and Duane Ludwig relationship is officially over. Yesterday, newly minted UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw posted a picture on Twitter of the final official Duane “Bang” Ludwig Muay Thai class.

Ludwig, a former UFC fighter himself, took over the head coaching position at Team Alpha Male in December of 2012. The team looked infinitely better once Ludwig took over, and nearly every fighter on their team had a fantastic 2013 campaign. Ludwig’s muay thai expertise significantly aided the likes of Chad Mendes, TJ Dillashaw, and even Urijah Faber.
During Ludwig’s time as coach, the team also introduced TUF winner, Chris Holdsworth, and exciting prospect Andre Fili into the UFC as well.
In their final attempt at getting a title under Ludwig, TJ Dillashaw put on a masterful performance against Renan Barao when he finished the former champion in the fifth round to capture Team Alpha Male’s first UFC title in multiple tries.
Ludwig is moving to Colorado to begin his own gym, but Dillashaw has stated that he will continue to work with Ludwig during fight camps.
Chad Mendes, who will be rematching Jose Aldo for the featherweight title at UFC 176 in August, will have Ludwig in his corner for the fight.
As of now, there is no word as to who will replace Ludwig as the head coach, but rumors are circulating that it could be fellow muay thai expert Martin Kampmann. Many of the fighters from the team have been seen training with Kampmann recently, and his expertise could possibly fill Ludwig’s void.
