Game of Thrones isn’t going anywhere anytime soon on HBO but one o it’s producers and writers is using his credibility to cash in elsewhere in Hollywood.
Of course, what fans want to hear is that a Game of Thrones movie is going to be made, but that’s just not the case — at least not yet. as good as an idea it is to wrap things up at the end of the series with a movie, the show isn’t ending anytime soon and no such idea seems to have been seriously discussed.
Should it though, one of the top dogs at the series will have had some Hollywood experience in the meantime.
According to Deadline, Game of Thrones producer Bryan Cogman will be helping get Fox’s Magic The Gathering film of the ground and to a more stale place.
It was inevitable that the writers and directors of HBO’s staggeringly good Game Of Thrones would begin taking over the fantasy realm in features. 20th Century Fox has set Bryan Cogman, a producer, story editor and writer on the HBO drama, to script a potential franchise movie out of the fantasy card game Magic The Gathering. It will be produced by Hasbro and Fox-based producer Simon Kinberg.
As silly as some have believed the game to be over the years, it seems to fit in the realm of what Game of Thrones has done as a gritty fantasy tale is what the fans want and an adaption of the role playing card game seems to be a great idea. Only time will tell if the cash grab was a good idea, but Kineberg and Cogman are heavy hitters these days and their presence on the film will raise it’s credibility with regular movie goers in addition to fans of the game.
