Taylor is just the latest in a June that has been full of commitments for head coach Brian Kelly and the Irish. So far this month, Notre Dame has added four commitments besides Taylor’s—joining 3-star players Micah Dew-Treadway (DE), Brandon Tiassum (DT) and Nick Coleman (CB).
He is also the seventh defensive player to commit to Notre in this recruiting class and the second defensive tackle to join the Irish for 2015.
The Cincinnati, Ohio native joined Notre Dame over offers from the likes of Michigan State, Ohio State and Tennessee among a long list of suitors.
“It was just the place for me,” Taylor told Blue & Gold Illustrated the night before he made his commitment public. “There’s so much tradition there, the academics are some of the best in the country and I really felt a great connection with the coaching staff.”
Taylor is ranked as the No. 19 defensive end and No. 12 player in the state of Ohio by 247Sports.
His commitment moves the Irish to No. 12 in the 247Sports 2015 national rankings and are No. 1 among the independents as well.
