TNA announces new main event for Slammiversary

After an injury to a top star has left their pay-per-view in disarray, TNA Wrestling have announced a new main event for Sunday.

TNA released the following statement:

As announced earlier today, MVP has been deemed medically unfit to compete in Sunday’s Slammiversary Main Event. Now, the Director of Wrestling Operations has announced his replacement(s).

This Sunday, Samoa Joe is scheduled to face Bobby Lashley and Austin Aries is scheduled to challenge Kenny King. We can now report that the winners of each of those bouts will then be added to Sunday’s Main Event against TNA World Champion Eric Young – creating a Three Way Steel Cage Match for the TNA World Heavyweight Title

MVP recently sustained a torn meniscus which sidelined him from the event. MVP had been serving as an authority figure on the program, as well as forming a faction with WWE and Strikeforce veteran Bobby Lashley and Kenny King, who could both possibly replace him.

Austin Aries and Samoa Joe, both former TNA World Heavyweight Champions, could also end up replacing MVP.
