Young Money announces 'Drake Vs. Lil Wayne' Tour

It looks like Jay Z and Beyonce won’t be the only power couple going on tour this summer.

Announced on his official Twitter account, Drake will embark on a 31 city tour with Young Money label mate Lil Wayne on a tour dubbed “Drake vs. Wayne”, a sly pun off Capcom’s throwback Street Fighter graphics.

While Drake is dropping loose tracks here and there–most recently “Trophies” and “0 to 10″ months after he released his third album “Nothin’ Was the Same”–Lil Wayne is prepping for the release of “Tha Carter V”, his 12th studio album since 1999.

According to Wayne himself, “Tha Carter V” will be his final hip-hop album.

“I personally plan on this being my final solo album, and it’s definitely the final Carter album. It’s the final Carter album. It’s stopping at five.”

Stating the summer “Carter V” season, Wayne has tasked Kobe Bryant, Floyd Mayweather with help on the promotion while he teases fans with weekly singles such as “Believe Me” featuring Drake and “D’Usse”, both tracks expected to appear on C5.

There has yet to be a release date for “Tha Carter 5″, but many expect the Louisiana rap star to release his album directly through iTunes a la Beyonce Knowles.

Dating back to 2009, Drake and Wayne have been staples of mainstream hip-hop. Being two of the biggest stars the genre has today, it’s hard to see this tour being anything less than success.

“Drake Vs. Lil Wayne” begins on August the 8th in Buffalo, New York, ending on September 27th in Houston, Texas. Here is a full list of the tour dates below.
