Sunday night, anyone who was watching Game 5 of the NBA Finals witnessed history. One of the greatest NBA players of our generation, Tim Duncan, won his fifth NBA Championship as the San Antonio Spurs once again blew out the Miami Heat, 104-87.

While he wasn’t the MVP –that honor went to Kawhi Leonard– this series was still proof that Duncan is indeed up there with the other legends in the history of the game, and right after the huge, series-clinching win, the ABC cameras caught up with the future Hall of Famer.

As always, Duncan is one of the most humble athletes, not just basketball player, that we’ve ever seen. Although, you have to know in his mind he realizes what he accomplished tonight was nothing short of spectacular.

More from NBA

In 17 years in the NBA, Duncan has never missed a trip to the playoffs and has now come away with five rings. He’s also had the pleasure of doing with the head coach Gregg Popovich throughout the entire journey.

Duncan indeed is just going to be one of those players that we will never forget and tell our grandchildren about.

Even though people joke that he might still be around for another  years, we have to remember that this man will be gone one day, and that’s sad to envision.
