If you are a mixed martial arts fan, chances are you are a Carlos Condit fan as well. The “Natural Born Killer” has put on stellar fights for MMA fans under the Zuffa banner for seven years. His legendary fights with Martin Kampmann, Georges St-Pierre, and Johny Hendricks have made Condit a bona fide superstar in the UFC.
In his last fight, a critical welterweight bout at UFC 171 against Tyron Woodley, Condit unfortunately blew out his knee tearing his ACL and partially tearing his meniscus as well. Condit underwent surgery soon after to repair the damage, and is currently rehabbing in order to get back to championship level shape.
For fans eagerly awaiting his return, they may have to wait some time according to Condit himself (Courtesy of MMAFighting):
I’m feeling pretty good. It’s coming along, it’s slow going, but I’m getting there. I’m probably not going to be fighting again until early next year. Right now I’m not even allowed to run, let alone hit pads or grappling or anything like that. So I got a little ways. I’m still in the gym five days a week with physical therapy, which is very involved, it’s some of the hardest workouts that I’ve done. Also, working my upper body, doing what I can to stay fit. I can’t fall off too much.
With the UFC’s welterweight division stacked with contenders, Condit can take his time rehabbing as the rest of the division sorts itself out. By the time he returns, he could possibly find himself two wins away from a UFC title shot.
