It is no secret the Atlanta Hawks would like to move up in the 2014 NBA Draft.

More from Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks have reportedly had discussions with the Sacramento Kings about acquiring the eighth-overall pick, a selection that the Kings would part with if the right deal came along.

Chuck Myron of Hoops Rumors was asked about a potential deal between the two on Monday and made his best guess as to where the two sides stand.

"It’s tough to tell, since Danny Ferry and company don’t usually leak a lot of information. But they’ve apparently had talks with the Kings about moving up to No. 8, so I suspect they’re at least considering the possibility. It’s not clear whether Sacramento or Atlanta initiated the talks, although the Kings are as aggressive as they come, so if I had to guess, I’d bet on them. That’s just a guess, though, of course."

The Hawks, who own the 15th-overall pick in the first round reportedly covet Croatian forward Dario Saric, but Saric will almost certainly be off of the board when the it is the Hawks’ turn to make their selection. Hawks’ coach Mike Budenholzer has even traveled to Croatia to watch Saric play because he has not scheduled any workouts.

Saric measured in at 6’10 and 223 lbs. with a wignspan of 6’10 at the 2012 Hoops Summit. Last season, he averaged 16.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 49.7% from the field, 34.5% from beyond the arc and 68.1% from the free throw line. He is ranked by Jonathan Givony of Draft Express as eighth-best prospect in the draft.
