Thomas Vermaelen Moving To Manchester United

It’s not often that you see a teams captain move around.  That is exactly what is happening now.  Thomas Vermaelen will not return to the Aresenals after the World Cup.  He will instead join Manchester United for a hefty 100,00 Euro’s per week.  That is almost $140,000 U.S. Dollars.

The Arsenal has already lost Bacary Sagna to Manchester City earlier and will now lose their team captain.

The Arsenal is no stranger to losing players to their Premier League rival Manchester United.  They have lost six players to Old Trafford in recent years.  The two clubs will work out a fee structure for the move.  Vermaelen has one year left on his Arsenal contract.

Vermaelen will likely see more playing time with Manchester United as well.  Which makes sense given the amount of money he will be making.  The Arsenal are 4th in the Premier League standings while Manchester United is listed in 7th for the 2013 and 2014 season.

Vermaelen is currently representing Belgium in the World Cup.
