Nintendo didn’t pack the same punch that Microsoft and Sony did with their Xbox and PlayStation press conferences, but the company behind the Wii U made sure to let gamers know they were serious about their console’s success. While in the very early stages, and with even fewer details, Nintendo showed off the Wii U’s next entrant in the Zelda series.
The few images fans were treated to were absolutely breathtaking. Although Nintendo’s Wii U can be criticized for not being capable of the graphical prowess of the competition, it looked as though Zelda may have hit a home run. Stunning rolling hills, with grass that swayed in the wind, laid a beautiful landscape for Link to start his next adventure.
Producer of the new Zelda game, Eiji Aonuma, hopped on the Nintendo MiiVerse to set the record straight as to where the footage had come from.
“Many people from the media kept asking me if the footage from the new Zelda game for Wii U is just a promotional movie, but that really is actual gameplay on Wii U. Also, I wasn’t kidding about how you will be able to reach the mountains that appear in the distance if you should choose to!”
Although fans still have a while to wait, as the game isn’t slated to release on the Wii U until 2015, everything seen thus far for the new Zelda looks to be a graphical beauty. As the game gets its subtitle and more details, the hype will only continue to grow.
