Brazil looked like they were going to be in trouble in the World Cup opener against Croatia. They escaped with a 3-1 lead thanks to some controversial calls.
The Brazilian team took another hit though when forward Hulk suffered a thigh injury in training. It doesn’t sound too severe from reports but it has cast some doubt over whether he’d be fit for their clash against Mexico, who also won their opening game.
“I can play, we have to face everything in a World Cup and I hope this is no big deal,” Hulk told a press conference on Sunday, via Sky Sports.
“I shot twice and felt discomfort. I left (training) as a precaution and I hope there will be no problem.
“Scolari will decide, but I want to play in all the games.
“I’ll have treatment and try to be fit for Tuesday so that I can help the national team.
“I’ll talk with Scolari and see what’s best for the national team. I am a player that always tries to help out as much as possible.
“Of course this worries me but I am in the hands of great professionals.”
Brazil and Mexico are both level at the top of the table with three points apiece, but Brazil gets the first place nod based on goal differential. This game will have a big impact in the outcome of the group and who gets the coveted top seed and who gets the runner-up seed.
