Alcatraz executive producer Jennifer Johnson will be taking over as Showrunner for Fox’s The Following when the popular series returns for its third season.
Now that the final chapter in the saga of Ryan Hardy and Joe Carroll has been written, it is time for Ryan to move on with his life; one that doesn’t include Joe. Unfortunately, that is not something that you can walk away from and not have some sort of mark left on your life.
When the popular Fox series returns for its third season, there will be someone new guiding Ryan and the rest of his team down their paths.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jennifer Johnson will be officially taking over for series creator Kevin Williamson and will become the new Showrunner of the series.
Johnson has plenty of experience working together with Fox and has undertaken plenty of intense shows in the past having produced series like the highly popular series Lost, Touch starring Kiefer Sutherland, Alcatraz which starred Lost alum Jorge Garcia, and even the newest Fox series Gang Related.
At the same time, Williamson will be getting ready to start a new project as he begins production on the new series Stalker for CBS which stars Nikita actress Maggie Q and American Horror Story actor Dylan McDermott.
Johnson will definitely have some pretty big shoes to fill as The Following has been one of the highest-rated and most intense shows on the network since its inception.
With the Joe Carroll case completely behind him, Ryan Hardy and his team will be moving on to new, and possibly even more intense cases when the series kicks back up later this year.
This is certainly a giant undertaking, but if there is anyone to do the job other than the show’s original creator, it is someone like Johnson who already has a proven track record with Fox.
