Steve Martin denies involvement in rumored Father of the Bride 3

Steve Martin responded on Twitter to the rumors that have been circulating about a third film in the Father of the Bride franchise in classic Steve Martin style.

Rumors began running wild this weekend about a potential third film in the Father of the Bride franchise that would see the family back together again for another wedding.

However, this time things were reported to be a little different.

Instead of your “traditional” wedding, it was reported that we would see Matty Banks, the younger brother from the previous films, would be all grown up and getting ready to marry another man.

Now, this is certainly not where the problem lies. The problem lies in the fact that the rumors stated that Steve Martin would be returning to the franchise to reprise his role as George Banks, otherwise known as the Father of the Bride.

I think someone may want to tell Steve Martin that he has a new film to prepare for, because he certainly didn’t know anything about it.

As you know, things in Hollywood can change before you can say “Action!” so this is not to say that the idea may never come into fruition; however, at least for the time being, Steve Martin has no immediate plans of reprising his role of George Banks.

There have been many franchises resurrected from the depths after many years. Take for example the upcoming film Dumb and Dumber To which has been almost 20 years in the making.

Would a third chapter in the Father of the Bride franchise, whether it has anything to do with a gay wedding or not, be something that you would want to see? Furthermore, do you think this is something Steve Martin would even want to revisit after all this time? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
