The 2014 College World Series has finished up its opening weekend, which means that it’s now time to separate the pretenders from the contenders in regards to the national championship, and that continues on Tuesday with a match up between the TCU Horned Frogs and Virginia Cavaliers.
This game in the winner’s bracket, meaning that both of these squads had favorable starts to their Omaha experience in their opening games on Sunday.
TCU, though, nearly didn’t have all that great of a time. In their game with the Texas Tech Red Raiders, they needed everything that had in their onslaught to get the win, grabbing two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to walk away with the 3-2 win. This TCU team continues to be on a roll this year.
Virginia, the team that was ranked at the top of the rankings a few times this year, nearly had their backs put against the wall, however they were able to get the walk-off win in the bottom of the ninth.
