In an effort to help ease the pain of recent huge financial losses, WWE and Vince McMahon are making some drastic changes. This was evident last week when the company released a total of 11 talents that were on the roster, and there is already reports that there are more to come in the near future.
However, talents weren’t the only people that received their walking papers as, according the a report from PWTorch via WrestleZone, McMahon also decided that the creative team needed a little overhaul and that resulted in the firing of head writer Jay Gibson.
PWTorch.com is reporting that Vince McMahon has fired head writer Jay Gibson. The release happened on Friday, a day after 11 releases were made.
While we don’t know whether or not Gibson was part of the problem, McMahon sending a message to the rest of the company by getting rid of the top dog on the writing team is a move that makes total sense, and also is one of the most McMahon moves ever.
With WWE losing as much money as it has so far, and God only knows how much more in the future, it’s natural to look at the creative process as a reason the company is flailing at the moment.
At the time of the cuts last Thursday, there weren’t any indications that anyone from the office was getting the ax, so this is the first that we’re all hearing of this.
In the tough financial times of WWE currently, apparently no one is safe.
