One of wrestling’s all-time great tag teams will reunite later this month, as TNA will bring in Matt Hardy to team with brother Jeff at their upcoming New York City TV tapings.
TNA Impact Wrestling released the following statement:
“ImpactWrestling.com has learned that TNA has come to terms with Matt Hardy to appear at IMPACT in New York City, which marks the first time that Matt has been inside a TNA ring in three years – this was also the last time a match featuring the Hardy’s was nationally televised.”
Jeff Hardy, who is currently portraying the “Willow” character, may step outside the role to team with his brother. As of now it seems likely the two will take on Magnus and Bram, whom Jeff Hardy has been feuding with.
While it doesn’t seem like Hardy has been signed long-term to work for TNA, a good reaction and performance could change that. Hardy last worked for TNA three years ago, which was a total disaster, as he showed up late for events, and was arrested for DWI, among other things.
Over the past year, TNA has seen the likes of AJ Styles, Jeff Jarrett, Chris Sabin, Christopher Daniels, Kazarian, Hulk Hogan, Sting and Devon all leave the company as they undergo massive cuts. The company was reportedly in talks to sell to country star Toby Keith last year before falling through due to the Carter family requesting daughter Dixie remained a television character. Keith instead founded Global Force Wrestling alongside Jeff Jarrett.
