Once the San Antonio Spurs finished off their destruction of the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals, winning the series in five games, including three straight blowouts, the speculation surrounding Heat forward LeBron James and his future with the team has continued to grow.

More from Houston Rockets

It’s hard to see James leaving the team – the Heat have won four Eastern Conference Finals and have made four trips to the NBA Finals, winning two titles, in the four years since he signed with the Heat. If James does leave, it will be to join a contender and the Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers have been mentioned as possibilities.

Bill Ingram of Basketball Insiders believes James would be a perfect fit with the Rockets.

"Honestly, if LeBron wants to win a championship next season his best chance is either with a healthy Rose in Chicago or in Houston (provided they can move Asik and Lin to move in the direction of the required cap space). Howard and LeBron would be a dominant defensive duo, making up for Harden’s complete defensive ineptness, and Harden, Howard and LeBron would complement each other offensively. Houston would need some discount vets to fill out the roster, but with those three and Parsons they would have a real shot at being better than OKC and possibly even San Antonio."

Of course, saying James could fit well with a team isn’t exactly going out on a limb – James is the best player in basketball and would improve any team by a substantial amount.

James averaged 27.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 56.7% from the field, 37.9% from three and 75.0% from the charity stripe this season.
