WWE preparing for Daniel Bryan to miss Summerslam?

Even as he still rehabs his neck injury, WWE reportedly has had some set plans for quite some time for him to either regain the World Heavyweight Championship that was stripped from him and defend it at Summerslam this August, or for him to regain the belts at the event.

However, as time goes on and his recovery time seems to get pushed back more and more, it appears that the company is now starting to put some plans in place for life without their top star at one of their biggest events of the entire year.

According to Dave Meltzer, that’s exactly what they’re doing.

"The original planned main event of Brock Lesnar vs. Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam is almost certainly not happening. Lesnar is still slated to be in the title picture when he returns, and will likely be facing the winner of the Money In The Bank ladder match for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam. As for Bryan, he’s still scheduled to be in one of the main events at SummerSlam if he’s ready by then, although it’s not certain that he will be. People in the company expect that he will be back for either SummerSlam in August or Night of the Champions in September. Meltzer noted that WWE is starting to advertise Bryan locally for live events in California in mid-August, although WWE.com has not added Bryan to those events on their website."

Of course, as we’ve said all along, the main thing for Bryan is to get as healthy as he can at this point before he steps back into a WWE ring, especially given the fact that this is a neck injury he’s dealing with. We’ve seen neck injuries end the careers of so many talents over the years, it’d be heartbreaking to see another one.
