MLG app released on Xbox One

Major League Gaming (MLG) has released the official MLG app for the Xbox One on Thursday. The app’s release comes just in time for Xbox One users to watch this weekend’s MLG tournament via MLG.tv.

In addition to live championship streams, MLG app users will also have access to MLG.tv’s other unique programming, including its news show “eSports Report”.

This weekend’s MLG Championship takes place from June 20-22 in Anaheim, CA. Pro gamers will fight for a share of $150,000 in prize money by playing Call of Duty: Ghosts, Super Smash Bros. Melee, StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, Killer Instinct and Injustice: Gods Among Us.

It begins this Friday at 2:30pm PT. The entire event will be live-streamed.

The MLG app is just one of a planned 40-plus apps that Microsoft will be bringing to the Xbox One through the end of the year. Will you be downloading it? Let us know in the comment section below!

Mike’s Musings: It’s very convenient timing for MLG to release its app. That being said, other than fans of eSports, I can’t see casual gamers downloading the app. That being said, I know I’ll be one of those people who will download it before this weekend’s championships.
