NBA Rumors: Nick Young willing to give Los Angeles Lakers hometown discount
By Bryan Rose
It’s been no secret that Los Angeles Lakers guard Nick Young plans to opt-out of his contract, though, born and raised in Southern California, Young isn’t exactly looking to leave the comforts of So Cal.

Wanting to secure a long term deal, Young is apparently more than happy to re-sign with the Lakers and would even consider giving them a hometown discount, though tells Mark Medina of InsideSoCal.com that he still wants to get paid.
“It depends how much the discount is,” Young said. “But as a player, everyone wants a place they feel comfortable at. I feel comfortable in L.A. But I can’t keep taking these discounts. I need a raise a little bit. But if it’s for the right cost and they’re bringing in players and I fit into the rotation, then I’ll probably take a pay cut.”
While Young is a nice player, he’s completely expendable to the Lakers if they’re able to use their powerful name to bring in an All-Star level player, something that the self appointed ‘Swaggy P’ likely is completely aware of. So his openness about a potential pay cut may save him a spot on the Lakers bench if Los Angeles is to acquire a big name, expensive talent.
Of course, the Lakers don’t exactly have a ton of assets and it’s been said they’re not looking to waste their cap space just yet (though if LeBron James opts out, that’s a different story) so Young should likely find himself returning to the City of Angels barring an oddity.
