For the past year or so, multiple NBA teams have reportedly attempted to trade for Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors but they’ve continually been rebuffed. It appears there are only a few players the Warriors are comfortable trading their young sharp shooter for, which apparently includes Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Kevin Love.

More from Golden State Warriors

News broke earlier today suggesting that the Warriors, finally willing to include Thompson in trade talks, had allegedly offered he and David Lee to the Timberwolves in exchange for Kevin Love, Kevin Martin, J.J. Barea and the 13th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.

It seemed like a pretty hefty price for the Timberwolves to pay considering they weren’t only giving up Love but also a lotto pick and only receiving a talented though non All-Star in return.

Given that, it appears as if the T’Wolves aren’t likely to be interested in the deal as currently proposed.

There have been multiple teams with interest in trading for Love including the Chicago Bulls, Sacramento Kings, Phoenix Suns, Denver Nuggets and Boston Celtics, all of which either have a collection of young players and/or draft picks which would likely be more enticing to the Timberwolves than Thompson and David Lee, so it’s understandable why Minnesota isn’t rushing to pull the trigger on such an offer.

Of course, assuming it’s true, it’s just an offer and the two sides could eventually find a middle ground because the Warriors do have desired parts, however in its base form, it’s clearly not going to work.
