The Cleveland Cavaliers are one of a few teams left in the NBA who don’t have a head coach at the moment, but that could be about to change. After going the last two months looking for a replacement for Mike Brown, the Cavaliers have zeroed in on a candidate and have made a job offer yet again.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

Cleveland has been after names like Vinny Del Negro and John Calipari, with Dave Joerger and Mark Jackson getting mention as well, but they seem to have settled on the furthest option than any other team has gone. According to Yahoo! Sports insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the Cavaliers have offered the position of head coach to Euroleague coach David Blatt.

Per Woj:

"In a bold move, the Cleveland Cavaliers have offered Euroleague icon David Blatt their head-coaching job, league sources told Yahoo Sports. The Cavaliers and Blatt’s representatives are in the process of negotiating terms of a deal, but no agreement has been reached, sources said."

Should Blatt and the Cavaliers reach an agreement, he’d become the first head coach in the history of the NBA to make the leap from overseas basketball to the pros in America. Blatt has been mentioned in connection to other jobs in basketball, as the Golden State Warriors were talking about putting him on Steve Kerr’s staff, but the Cavaliers are offering the top dog position and Blatt is clearly listening.

But just because the job has been offered does not mean the job is filled. The Minnesota Timberwolves offered Dave Joerger their head coach job and he rejected them, and the Cavaliers have thrown gobs of money at candidates only to be rebuffed.

Blatt seems to be a legit candidate though and it’s just a matter of time before we find out if he’ll make history and take the Cavaliers job off the market.
