Game of Thrones is already the most popular show in HBO history and that success continued in the piracy market over the weekend following the season 4 finale, “The Children.”

According to Torrent Freak, the Game of Thrones season 4 finale had a whopping 1.5 million downloads within 12 hours of the show airing on television. That number is expected to grow significantly, with projections being north of 7 million downloads.

Game of Thrones has always been one of the most pirated shows on television, and its continued success just leads to the appeal of the show.

Fans who do not have HBO want to see what all of the fuss is about, and the show continues to deliver on a consistent basis.

HBO has always had an interesting stance on piracy, saying, “Game of Thrones is the most pirated show in the world. That’s better than an Emmy.”
