If you remember, during E3, Ubisoft came under fire due to their Assassin’s Creed franchise. It was announced that no female assassin’s would be headed to the newest game, Assassin’s Creed: Unity, due to the complexity of developing a new character and doing voices for the character. That notion was shot down by a former Ubisoft employee, and the company had to go on the defensive.
Now, a week or so out from E3, Ubisoft is again facing some criticism, this time in the form of Sunset Overdrive.
Sunset Overdrive, Microsoft’s new exclusive IP for the Xbox One, is taking a dig at the Ubisoft Assassin’s Creed series. Sunset Overdrive has talked heavily about allowing gamers to be whoever they would like to be, as well as making all clothing neutral for both genders. The newest video surrounding the game, takes it one step further.
In the video, you can see a character dressed as a female assassin, while playing through the world of Sunset Overdrive. While it may not be a necessary outfit for the game, putting it in the trailer is a nice touch, and an even better job of marketing.
Outside of the Assassin’s Creed dig, the new Sunset Overdrive shows off some of the traps the game will allow players to create in order to string together combos.
While we are still a ways out from the launch of the October 28 release date for Sunset Overdrive, the game is doing a great job of building its hype and making sure it takes center stage in gamers minds.
