Think Like A Man Too earns 1.8 million from Thursday night showings

Kevin Hart’s Think Like A Man Too earned a respectable $1.8 million at the box office Thursday night. The sequel to the popular Think Like A Man is expected to be this weekends top grossing films among new premiers, most notably the Clint Eastwood film Jersey Boys.

The original Hart film, Think Like A Man, was released in April of 2012 and fell less than $9 million short, domestically, from $100 million but added $4.5 million overseas.  This time around the couples head to Las Vegas for a wedding and naturally trouble ensues. The early results beat the last film pairing of director Tim Story and Kevin Hart, Ride Along by $200,000.  That film grossed $48 million in it’s opening weekend over the Martin Luther King three day weekend in 2013.

The question is will this second go around be enough to fend off the antics of Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum’s 22 Jump Street wrapping it’s 2nd weekend in release.  22 Jump Street earned $60 million in it’s opening weekend.

Jersey Boys is the only other wide release film this weekend and it’s not expected to give Think Like A Man Too much competition.  The film is a biopic centering on the early lives and success of The Four Seasons, led by Frankie Valli.  He is played on film by John Lloyd Young.  The film will likely finish third behind “Think” and “22″.

Think Like A Man too also stars Michael Ealy Jerry Ferrara, Meagan Good, Regina Hall, Taraji P. Henson, Romany Malco, Wendi McLendon-Covey, and Gabrielle Union.  The film will also open on 1,000 less screens than the Jersey Boys.
