Jets’ Woody Johnson: Likes idea more playoff games
By Mike Dyce
The idea of expanding the playoffs in the NFL has been floated around for awhile. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said that he was in favor of expanding the playoffs if for no other reason than helping his team finally get to the playoffs.

Jones isn’t the only owner who has come out and supported the idea of expanding the playoffs, New York Jets owner Woody Johnson has jumped on the band wagon to a certain extent. He tries to toe the fence but says he “kind of likes it.”
“There are good arguments on both sides, and I haven’t gone into it in maybe the depth that we will,” Johnson told the Star-Ledger. “We’re going to study it hard. But I kind of like it. I kind of like the idea of more playoff games. We’re still below other sports [in terms of the number of teams that make the playoffs].”
The argument against playoff expansion is that it will dilute the product, but the problem is that teams that deserve to get in, don’t because of the divisional winners and two wild card spots set up. For instance, the Green Bay Packers at 8-7-1 not only got into the playoffs but hosted a game, while the Arizona Cardinals at 10-6 didn’t make the playoffs.
Not to mention the time a 7-9 Seattle Seahawks team hosted the New Orleans Saints in the playoffs, though the Seahawks went on to win that game.
