Although since he arrived in Knoxville recruiting has not been an issue, Tennessee Volunteers head coach Butch Jones was off to a rather slow start as it pertains to the 2015 recruiting class. The Vols have been sitting outside the top 10 in the 247 Sports rankings, but after a big Saturday, that’s not the case anymore.
After landing three huge commitments in the 2015 class on Saturday, Jones and the Vols were vaulted six spots to number seven as they continue to fight their way back to the top of the SEC with dynamite recruiting.
Undoubtedly, the grab of the day for Tennessee was the commitment of former Alabama running back Alvin Kamara. After spending some time at Hutchinson Community College following his decision to leave the Tide, the four-star JUCO running back made his Tennessee pledge official on Saturday, giving the Vols one of the best backs in the 2015 class.
He has three years of eligibility left.
In addition to the commitment of Kamara, Tennessee also landed four-star defensive tackle Quay Picou and three-star outside linebacker Austin Smith, helping get the Volunteers back into the top 10 of the recruiting classes.
With still a lot of time left between now and February, the ball is certainly rolling for Jones to compile yet another great recruiting class as he looks to rebuild the former SEC power.
