NHRA: Ron Capps and The Sarge win New England Nationals

The Auto Plus NHRA New England Nationals in Epping, New Hampshire produced Sunday drama live on ESPN. In the Funny Car category, Ron Capps defeated Alexis DeJoria with an ET of 4.095 to DeJoria’s 4.12. In the Top Fuel category, Tony “The Sarge” Schumacher defeated Doug Kalitta with an ET of 3.813 (323 mph) to Kalitta’s 3.824 (323 mph).

In the Pro Stock Motorcycle category, Angie Smith defeated her husband, Matt Smith, for her first Wally. In the Pro Stock category, Dave Connolly defeated Jonathan Gray with an ET of 6.536 (213.23 mph) to Gray’s 6.577 (213.16 mph).

The New England Nationals is Capps’ first Wally of 2014, and The Sarge’s first win since March at the SummitRacing.com Nationals in Las Vegas.
