NBC has announced that a new reality series, Running Wild with Bear Grylls, will premier on July 28th at 8:00 pm. The first season will feature celebrities that are thrust into wild locations around the world. NBC announced that actors Ben Stiller, Zac Efron, Channing Tatum, and Tom Arnold will appear in “stand alone” episodes alongside the survivalist, Grylls.
In addition to the actors, former NFL star and current NFL t.v. personality Deion Sanders will also be featured on the reality series although they have not said what his challenge will be.
“Running Wild allows viewers to see inside the hearts and minds of these guests in a very open, honest and vulnerable way, pushing them out of their comfort zones and seeing what they are like in real life when stripped of all the benefits of celebrity,” Grylls said in a statement.
The series, according to the release will take the celebrities across six remote locations where they will skydive, repel, and “battle wind and rain in Scotland”. NBC has ordered six episodes of the series with each episode an hour long.
Edward Michael “Bear” Grylls is a British adventurer best known for his television series Man vs. Wild. The series ended in 2011. Grylls’ personal best accomplishment was reaching the summit of Mt. Everest 18 months after breaking his back in a parachuting accident. Grylls has traversed the Atlantic Ocean in a 36 foot rigid inflatable boat and later took the same style of boat through the Northwest arctic Passage. He has also traversed the British Isles on a jet ski.
