The Minnesota Timberwolves and their attempts to trade Kevin Love have led them to engage in what seem to be serious talks with the Golden State Warriors, but those talks have hit snag after snag as neither team wants to fully give in to the other. The sticking point in talks seem to Klay Thompson’s involvement in trade negotiations.

More from Golden State Warriors

Minnesota has been adamant that they want Thompson and other assets in a Kevin Love trade but the Warriors have been very hesitant to include their star in any trade offers. That is a theme that has seemingly led the Dubs to proclaim that Thompson will not be traded to anyone.

This seems to be a power play by the Warriors who are clearly trying to get as much as they can out of Klay Thompson in a trade. Minnesota wants multiple players plus Thompson for Kevin Love and this seems to be the Dubs demanding that price get lowered to either just Thompson or possibly even no Thompson at all.

Only time will tell how willing the Warriors will be to eventually trade Thompson but at this moment they’re playing hardball with the Wolves and anyone else who wants to get their hands on Thompson. Love is clearly the better player, but Thompson is a major asset and these trade talks may be stalled but aren’t going anywhere as the NBA Draft approaches.
