As the NBA Finals progressed and the San Antonio Spurs took control of their series with the Miami Heat, which they eventually won in five games, the future of Spurs’ center Tim Duncan, guard Manu Ginobili and head coach Gregg Popovich have come into question.

More from NBA

Many believed Duncan specifically would opt for retirement after a brilliant career in which he led the Spurs to six Western Conference Championships and five NBA Championships. After all, Duncan is 38 and has played 17 NBA seasons. Duncan has a player option for the 2013-2014 season.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski , Duncan will be opting in to final year of contract, which is worth $10.3 million and will decide on his future after next season.

There hasn’t been any word on either Ginobili or Popovich, but it would be a surprise if either decided to retire.

Duncan has averaged 15.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.9 blocks per game while shooting 49.0% from the field and 73.1% from the free throw line during the regular season then 16.3 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 52.3% from the field and 76.0% from the free throw line. In his career, has put up 19.9 points, 11.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.2 blocks per game while shooting 50.6% from the field and 69.4% from the charity stripe.
