Bad News Barrett injury: WWE Intercontinental Champion to miss Money in the Bank

Earlier on Tuesday evening as the Smackdown taping was playing out, the final WWE Smackdown before this Sunday’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view, some horrible news came through that one of the main participants in the traditional contract ladder match, IC champ Bad News Barrett, had badly injured his shoulder.

Now, WrestleZone is confirming that the injury is indeed as severe as first reported; and it’s unfortunately severe enough that he will miss Money in the Bank this Sunday, Justin LaBar is reporting.

Wrestlezone’s Justin LaBar has spoken with a backstage source within WWE that has confirmed Barrett’s “severe shoulder injury” to be legitimate. While it has not been confirmed at this time, he is expected to be removed from the Money in the Bank ladder match this Sunday – a match he was heavily favored to win.

Again, as the gentlemen from WrestleZone pointed out, Barrett was one of the favorites to win the contract for a future shot at the World Heavyweight Champion. Given the push he’s been on recently, coupled with the fact that Vince McMahon has been said to be a huge fan of the former Nexus leader’s work, it’s not out of the realm of reality to believe he would have grabbed the briefcase.

Now, sadly, all we can do is wish him a speedy recovery from the injury and hope he can pick up right where he left off when he gets back.
