The Cleveland Cavaliers have the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft this year and as a result they’re going to be looking at trades they can make as teams try to move into that top spot and take the player they covet.

But in addition to shopping the No. 1 pick, the Cavaliers have players that teams covet as well and two of those players are point guard Kyrie Irving and shooting guard Dion Waiters. According to Sam Amico from Fox Sports Ohio, those close to Waiters believe that either the former Syracuse star or Irving will be traded by the NBA Draft this Thursday in Brooklyn.

Should this plan come to fruition, it could dramatically alter the Cavaliers draft night plans as it could lead them to selecting Dante Exum over Andrew Wiggins or Jabari Parker at No. 1 overall.

Trading Irving isn’t that far outside the realm of possibility as he has allegedly voiced a desire to leave the team which would mean the Cavaliers are better off trading him now than getting into a contract dispute with him later. But Waiters may be the reason for all the unhappiness with Irving, and there have been rumblings about trading him as well.

Of course, nothing happened at the trade deadline when these talks about and there’s a chance that they again lead nowhere. The fact that we’re hearing about them again this close to the draft though seems to suggest the rumors will only mount as we near Draft night.
