NFL Rumors: Dallas Cowboys to add lineman Uche Nwaneri
By Brian Miller
The Dallas Cowboys are a little worried about their offensive line depth and as such are set to sign free agent offensive lineman Uche Nwaneri. Nwaneri spent last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars and was released in March.

In his six seasons with the Jaguars, Nwaneri started all but five games. He didn’t see much interest in free agency, but that is not uncommon for veterans over the age of 30 who often find more interest after the NFL Draft. Nwaneri reportedly received interest from Cincinnati and Tennessee as well as the Cowboys. He is from Dallas, so naturally his decision was a bit easier.
The Cowboys have a slew of lineman on the roster, but the starting makeup is still a question mark. The Cowboys drafted Notre Dame tackle Zach Martin with the 16th overall pick in this past May’s NFL Draft.
Last season the Cowboys gave up only 35 sacks on the year, but ranked 14th in the NFL in passing offense. The team dropped to 24th in rushing offense as the line struggled to create holes.
A lot of pressure has been placed on head coach Jason Garrett and offensive coordinator Bill Callahan. Jerry Jones continues to deflect questions about his coaches being on the proverbial “hot seat,” just as quickly as he deflects questions about his starting quarterback Tony Romo.
The Cowboys finished a disappointing 8-8 last season and watched the Philadelphia Eagles and new head coach Chip Kelly win the division. The Cowboys have not won a playoff game or made the playoffs since 2009.
