The Dallas Mavericks shook the NBA landscape up a bit on Wednesday afternoon, just one day before the NBA Draft, when they nailed a blockbuster deal down with the New York Knicks that actually saw the re-acquire Tyson Chandler. From that point on, the team immediately felt that the move made them a major player to land LeBron James, who opted out of his Miami Heat contract on Tuesday.

More from Dallas Mavericks

Should James decide to go to Dallas, not only are you teaming him up with a powerful inside presence like Chandler, bit you’re also teaming him up with one of the best shooters in the history of the NBA, Dirk Nowitzki, who has unquestionably been the face of the franchise for the better part of the last decade.

Whenever you’re about to pair up superstars, there will always be people that wonder about egos. Well, we know that Dirk has never really had an issue in that department, and he proved that point yet again as he made his sales pitch to LeBron, telling him that he can have everything that he wants, basically.

Some may scoff at the idea, but it can’t be ignored that LeBron James now taking a longer, harder look at the Mavericks is going to be a reality, especially given the events of Wednesday afternoon with the trade.

The biggest star in maybe the team’s history telling him that he will step aside to let James have it all only helps that cause. Plus, you have to imagine that Dirk wants to add a few more rings to his collection before his career is up, just like James does; so why not do it together?
