Since signing this offseason with the New York Jets, running back Chris Johnson seems very eager to want to return to his old dominant form. Of course, that would me rushing for over 2,000 yards and scoring long-range touchdowns at will.

Well, if the plans that the Jets have for them are indeed true, then that’s going to be mighty difficult.

In the interest of keeping him fresh, Jets running back coach Anthony Lynn admitted that Johnson may not see as many carries as he would have hoped this year.

“He’s got some miles on him,” Jets running backs coach Anthony Lynn conceded. “So we’re going to have to be strategic in how we use him, and when we use him, to keep him fresh so that he can be the explosive guy that I know that he can be.”

Of course, Johnson will be splitting time with fellow backs Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell, and Lynn loves the dynamic that the group brings to the table.

“I really like the versatility; it’ll really gives you the opportunity to do more things to attack the defense,” Lynn said. “So with Chris’s skill-set, combined with Chris Ivory’s power-running game, and Bilal Powell’s more of a combination of both, it’s a really good quality to have in the room.”
