Who says Soccer players are soft? Yes, they perpetually dive and flop, but that is simply gamesmanship. You see, if a player sells a flop well, their team could potentially be gifted a free kick or even better, a penalty kick.
In reality, Soccer players are a group of tough athletes ready and willing to risk life and limb for their country as evidenced in today’s France vs Ecuador matchup. The game, which is currently airing live on ESPN from Estádio Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro, could ultimately determine the outcome of Group E.
Early on in the match Christian Noboa of Ecuador and Blaise Matuidi of France collided heads when they both went up for headers. Check out the brutal collision in the Vine below:

Impressively, neither man left the pitch after the collision. Instead, Noboa was forced to put on a hair net to mop up the bleeding.

The game is still deadlocked at 0-0 with time ticking away with every passing moment. Even with France up a man, they have been unable to score on the Ecuadorian national team.
