Tuesday was an exciting line up of games ripe with all sorts of remarkable goals, red cards, late penalties, controversial calls and of course Luis Suarez biting an opponent. While Wednesday might not be able to top that level of drama, there is plenty at stake on Wednesday.

Out of the eight teams playing on Wednesday, only one has been eliminated and one has clinched a spot in the Round of 16. That means six teams are fighting for three spots in the knockout round.

In Group E, we have the wide open group. France lead with six points and a six point goal differential and are likely to advance. It would take a big win from Ecuador and a big win from Switzerland to catch up in points and overcome the goal differential to knock France out of the knockout round.

Unfortunately for Ecuador, they need a win against France to likely advance with Switzerland playing Honduras, a team that has yet to win a game in the World Cup.

Group F isn’t quite as wide open as Group E. Bosnia and Herzegovina are already eliminated and Argentina is already into the next round, one of five teams from South America into the next round. Nigeria is in the driver’s seat for the second spot, but a loss to Argentina could put the in jeopardy of being eliminated.

Iran playing Bosnia-Herzegovina are looking for a win to be in position if Nigeria stumble to Argentina. It is a thrilling finish in this group, and both games matter.
