Group H final table: Belgium and Algeria advance

Belgium finished atop the group as expected with a win over South Korea. It wasn’t without trials and tribulations though, the Belgians got a red card at the end of the first round and were forced to play a man down for the second half.

They managed to get a late goal in the 77th minute to get the win, though they didn’t need it. A draw would’ve advanced them as well but a win guaranteed they wouldn’t get passed by Algeria in the table.

As the winners of Group H, Belgium face the United States in the “Round of 16.” As the runner-ups in Group H, Algeria will play Group G winners Germany. It is a tough match up for Algeria, but fellow African nation Ghana held Germany to a draw in group play.
