THe Los Clippers are not a team we’ve ben talking about a lot when it comes to the draft and there might be a reason for that. While the basketball world is being controlled by talk at the top of the lottery, it’s looking like more and more teams later in the draft will be parting ways with their picks to either make room for free agents to invest in future picks down the road.

More from Los Angeles Clippers

Los Angeles is not in the latter, as they’re looking to trade their first rounder to make sure they have all the cap space they can get to make a run at free agents this summer. According to ESPN.com’s Chad Ford, the Clippers aren’t actively trying to trade their pick but they’re not protecting it either.

The Clippers are rumored to be in the running for LeBron James and while trading their first round pick won’t be some magic factor that lands them the best player on the planet, every penny helps and not having to take on a rookie salary is something more than a few teams are thinking about.

It all comes down to what the Clippers can get in return for their pick. While they want to trade it, they’re not going to just give it away either just to be rid of it.
